  9. Do You like OS3.5 icons? You do not own OS3.5 package? Is it hopeless?
  10. The answer is simple: NO ;)
  11.  
  12. This small utility does convert OS3.5 PaletteMapped icons into NewIcons.
  13. Whole hard job is made by Convert35Icon. All You have to do is specify some
  14. arguments. Not too hard isn't it? ;)
  15.  
  16. Installation:
  17. Just copy the specified executable ('Convert35Icon') wherever You want...
  18. Or use supplied installer...
  19.  
  20. Requirements:
  21. -OS3.5 to make it fully functional
  22. -OS3.1 to run 'special' version of Convert35Icon...
  23.  (Read about it at the end of this readme file)
  24. -newicon.library V40+
  25. -asl.library V38+ (only for WB support)

  28. Features:
  29. -long names support (up to 103 characters)
  30. -small size
  31. -simply usage
  32. -may strip PaletteMapped icon image
  33. -may strip Plain icon image (ONLY OS3.5 version!)

  37. Source/A:
  38.   source icon (PaletteMapped)
  39. Dest/A:
  40.   destination icon (NewIcon)
  41. KEEPPALETTEMAPPED=KPM/S:
  42.   Convert35Icon won't try to remove PaletteMapped icon image from destination
  43. KEEPPLAIN=KP/S:
  44.   Convert35Icon won't try to remove Plain icon image from destination

  46. Note:
  47. 1. You may specify source/dest with or without '.info' extension.
  48. 2. KEEPPLAIN works only in OS3.5 version (not the patched one)

  54. Convert35Icon and OS3.1 Notes:
  55. So You want to convert OS3.5 icons to NewIcons and You do NOT have OS3.5 installed?
  56. Yes? So read on...

  58. First You need to get icon.library V44+ f.e. from BoingPack1 
  59.   (OS3.5 relase, OS3.5 BoingBag1 relase, OS3.5 DOpus relase supported)

  61. Second apply the patch to CI2NI by typing this into console:
  62.  'gpatch Convert35icon patches.ptg COnvert35Icon_31'
  63.  
  64. Then copy the new executable as Convert35Icon anywhere You want..
  65.  
  66. Now the last stage
  67.  'gpatch icon.library patches.ptg LIBS:ic35.library'
  68.  (This is icon.library V44+, remember?)
  69. Done!

  71. Now You may convert any OS3.5 icon to NewIcon without installed OS3.5...
